Unfortunately, our supplier of Kenya teas, Royal Tea of Kenya, is no longer able to provide us with any teas. We are searching for another supplier but until we find one, we will not be selling this packet.
We had intended to do a tastiing of teas of Africa as a whole, but when it got down to deciding which teas to present we realized that there were just too many excellent teas being produced on the continent and we had to divide it up. Kenya alone is such a big producer that it seemed only fair to devote our first African tea tasting entirely to her. The session was held at the Voss Inn Bed and Breakfast on February 27, 2012. We discussed the introduction of tea in Kenya in the early 1900's through to the present day as well as tea's significance in the current economy of Kenya. While we tasted teas from a few large estates, our primary focus was on the small-hold tea farmer and we tasted teas from Royal Tea of Kenya, the only entity allowed to represent over 500,000 independent small-hold tea farmers, including Arthur N'juguna Komo, the oldest living tea farmer in the world. The teas we tasted were:
- Silverback White
- White Whisper
- Highland Green
- Royal Golden Safari
- Royal Tajiri
- Royal Purple Orthodox
- Grandpa's Anytime Tea
