This beautiful teapot is made from sturdy cast iron and has an enamel coating on the interior to prevent rusting. The teapot is designed in the shape of a squash, so to speak, with an elaborate relief depicting ancient warriors around the circumference of the pot. There is also a geometric relief on the lid as well as around the top of the pot. Cast iron teapots heat evenly and retain heat very well. They are praised worldwide for their beauty, strength, and superb quality. In addition to brewing tea, you can also use this teapot directly on stove-top to heat water.
Historically during the mid 19th century as infused tea drinking became more popular in Japan, cast iron teapots (tetsubin in Japanese) evolved from being a kitchen item to being a status symbol used to serve tea. Many nobles cherish their teapots as treasures and are kept in the family for generations.
