Pound for pound tea has twice the caffeine of coffee however, in the cup it has only 50%. Tea also just happens to be the only natural source of the amino acid L-theanine. You might ask yourself, "So, what does that have to do with anything?" Well, you could say that L-theanine works its magic on the caffeine in tea so that it actually takes the human body up to ten hours to absorb it. So, essentially, the caffeine in tea is on a time release, which is why you don't get that instant rush that you get with coffee. What's more, L-theanine is a natural relaxant and anti-depressant which counteracts the effects of caffeine.

All of that being said, there are many people who, for one reason or another, prefer not to consume caffeine of any kind. With the exception of yerba mate herbal teas do not contain caffeine. We also offer a number of decaffeinated black and green teas for those who want to enjoy the health benefits of tea without the negative effects of caffeine. Our teas are decaffeinated using a patented Canadian Chemical Free CO2 process. During the process, naturally occurring CO2 is circulated under high pressure to extract caffeine. Not only is this process completely chemical free and kind to the environment, it leaves none of the chemical flavor residue associated with chemically decaffeinated teas.
